Medieval Motley Crew!

Although we have not finished reading about all the pilgrims in The Canterbury Tales, of the ones we have read and discussed, which seems most interesting?  What do you like and dislike about this character?  Make a prediction, based upon his/her characterization, as to what the tale of this character will be?  Justify.  (The deadline to post a response to this blog question is midnight, Sunday, September 18, 2011.)

Out of all the characters in the Canterbury Tales, the most interesting to me is the Squire. He is the poem's Prince Charming and is a romantic and valiant person, which I like. The only negative thing about him is the fact that he sleeps around quite often. Instead of being true to his love, he is tempted by lust. I believe that he will tell the story of how he must win the love of his life back from someone who has stolen her. Since it is said that he is "in hope to win his lady's grace."

The most interesting character to me is the Knight. I like that he is almost the stereotypical knight from stories. He is always doing what is right and standing up for his beliefs. As of now I do not see any negative aspects of the Knight. I think his story will be one of good versus evil where good will triumph.

Personally, I think that the Skipper is my favorite so far. I like how he's such an aggressive character and so unlike all of the others. This happens to be his downfall also; however, as he seems to be rather cruel. I think his tale will be one of a daring escapade during which he steals fine wines from a trader ship, seeing as how he himself has done this, and because it would enrage the Merchant.

In my opinion, the Nun is the most interesting character. I like that her character is described as sweet and dainty. However, I do not like that she is fake and superficial. I think her story will be very dramatic and about a woman who is so elite in her social class that everyone is jealous of her.

In the Canterbury Tales, the most interesting character to me is the Franklin. He is a jolly man that loves throwing parties and being friendly. The only thing I do not like about him is that he is easily angered if someone messes up. I think that his story will be similar to Jay Gatsby's because he will have fun at his parties but eventually lose someting he mostly cared about.

So far in the Canterbury Tales, the pilgrim that seems most interesting is the Nun. I like that she is entertaining and friendly to all, but dislike the fact that she is completely fake. I predict that the Nun's tale will be over exaggerated and somehow reveal who she truly is because she has never been herself around others.
