A Motley Crew...
Although we have not finished reading about all the pilgrims in The Canterbury Tales, of the ones we have read and discussed, which seems most interesting? What do you like and dislike about this character? Make a prediction, based upon his/her characterization, as to what the tale of this character will be? Justify. So we beat on...
Now that we have read the book and watched the recent movie version and the deleted/cut scenes from the movie production, tell us what your favorite scene was in the book and compare/contrast it with the movie version. Which was more powerful, which was more enticing, which truly captured the essence of the story? (The deadline to post a response is midnight, February 23, 2014.)

Try this quiz and see which Gatsby character you are most like. Don't try to manipulate the results and let this be true. (The deadline to post a response is midnight, Sunday, February 16, 2014.) There is another open post below this one.

The Great Fitzgerald...
Fitzgerald is known for saying, “You don't write because you want to say something, you write because you have something to say." He had so much to say about life, love, and people in The Great Gatsby that it is one of the most quoted novels of all times. What do you believe is a major theme of this novel and how does Fitzgerald convey this theme? (The deadline to post a response is midnight, Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014.)

"You are worth more than the whole damn bunch of them..."
Nick told us in the very beginning of the novel that he reserved judgments, but the last time he saw Gatsby alive he shouted to him "You are worth more than the whole damn bunch of them..." Nick has been our eyes, our ears, and our conscience through this novel. When he makes this judgment, is he accurate? What one event led you to agree or disagree with this assessment? ( The deadline to post a response to this question is midnight, Thursday, February 13, 2014.)

Anything could happen...

Do you still have questions or concerns about either or both of them? With whom do most of your sympathies lie? Why? (The deadline to post a response to this question if midnight, Sunday, February 9, 2014.)

Just across the bay
Based on the first two chapters of the book, what are your initial thoughts on one of the following characters: Nick, Tom, Daisy, Jordan, Myrtle? Why? Do not base you thoughts on having seen the movie--approach this from the book view only. CATCH: You may not write on the same character as the two people who post previously to you.
