On the way to Canterbury

Although we have only met a few of them, select a pilgrim and briefly tell what you find interesting or intriguing about him or her? Why?  You may not comment on the same character as the two posters prior to your post. (The deadline to post a response to this question is midnight, April 4,2013.)

I find the Cook to be a very interesting character because Chaucer created the "nasty" image of a cook through him. Also, he is interesting to me because Cook's white cream sauce gets some of its flavor from the ulcer on his knee.

I find the friar most interesting. He is the epitome of a con-man. I think it is sort of comical how he uses his "special" license from the pope to hear confession. However, I think it is awful how he takes women's virginities and then negotiates a marriage for them. I think it is awful how he cons poor widows out of their money. Chaucer uses him to show the corruptness of the church. Thus far, he is one of the most evil pilgrim. I would be very interested to hear his story.

I find the knight to be the most interesting pilgrim we met so far. Although he has plenty of money, his appearance does not reflect it, which shows that he does not find money to be the most important thing. Also, he nobly fights for what is right. He possesses all of the characteristics of chivalry, which shows that he is a man that honors his knighthood. Because he fights in many battles and always wins, I believe his story will be about a knight fighting to be a hero, which will show what te knight has been through.

I believe that the Franklin is the most interesting character because he lives for pleasure and happiness. He throws parties and is always cheerful and confident. I like the fact that he is sort of like Santa Claus.

I find the Prioress to be a very intriguing character. She acts graceful and kind, but she fakes herself by pretending to be higher than her social class by speaking in French often. I also find it interesting that though she has her vows to God, she puts wanting to be better in front of God by wearing her extra jewelry.

I believe the priest is most interesting. He is the picture of a perfect priest and what Catholics would want their priest in their church community to be like. I admire this character greatly. Also, I find him interesting because all of Chaucer's other character's within the church seem to have some flaw. The prist does not.

I find the cook the most intriguing character. With his "specialty" cooking, he quickly impresses the guilds men he cooks for, however, the host knows what he is up to. With the ulcer on his knee, he has nothing to hide.

I believe the most interesting pilgrim is the Woman of Bath. She is loving and travels and has a temper. Also, she has been widowed five times, but was experienced before her first marriage. She seems to be an intriguing character.
