What a woman wants...

In the "Wife of Bath's Tale," the old crone tells the lusty and haughty knight that what women most desire is mastery over their husbands. Do you agree? If so, why? If not, what do you think most women desire? Give at least two reasons for either view that you take. (The deadline to post a response is midnight, Tuesday, April 9, 2013.)

What women want is mastery over their spouse. Yes, most women would like a gentle, kind-hearted man to marry but what women want most is power. This is because, with this power, women feel needed. This is something that a lot of people, especially women, lack because of self esteem issues. Another reason why women want such dominance is because it is a natural urge, in most people, to crave power and dominion over something.

I believe women want mastery over their husband. A wife wants to have control over her husband. Women want the men to do as commanded. Women want the power of the relationship.

I do not believe that women want mastery over their husbands, but simple equality and a voice. Many women do not want to be masters but more simply heard in a relationship. This opinion, I believe, is shared by the Wife of Bath who simply wanted to have the power to be heard and listened to. She also wanted to be able to make decisions for the relationship.

I believe that mastery of her husband is not what women want most. Women do not want to master their husband and have some weak and wimpy man running behind her. Women want their man to be strong and powerful, but in a respectful way. I believe the thing women most desire is respect. Women just want to be respected and want their husband to notice little things like when she changes her hair or gets a new outfit. Women just want to be respected and treated well by their husband.

In a relationship, I do not believe that women most desire to have mastery over their husbands. Women would much rather have a husband that is loyal because of their love rather than because their wives are their "masters." I believe what most women desire, however, is respect. Respect can cover many aspects like trust and equality. If the man and woman have respect for eachother, both of them can have a happy relationship.

I do not believe that women desire mastery over their husbands. I believe what women want most from their husbands is simply to be loved. Woman want to be respected and appreciated. Of course women like to be right, but having mastery is not what they most desire.

I believe that women do not want mastery over their husbands. However, women just want to be treated equally and respected by their husbands. They want their husbands to love them and treat them just like they would treat their mothers. A woman does not want a man that will command her what to do. She wants a man who will give her the love and respect she needs.

I believe that women do want mastery over there husband. They want to be able to prove to him that they can accomplish much more than he can. Also, women want to be able to be in control. They want to make their husband do whatever they want. If women have mastery over their husband, they believe he will never leave them. They need to be able to control something in their life so they feel like they can control their future, and since women are able to control men, they do it.

I do not believe that women want mastery over their husbands. They want a husband who cares for them and treats them as equals not someone they have full control over. What women want most is a loving husband. Someone the can talk to, and someone who helps they through any situation. Most women do not want the responsibility of having mastery over their husbands.

Women do want power most. For centuries, they have been powerless and subservient to their husbands. They have a right to have power, and a right to want power. They also want to be in control of their relationship. They contribute a lot to the household and the raising of the children, so it makes sense that what they want most is power.

I do not believe most women wish for mastery over their husbands, but I do believe they wish for equality with their husbands. Women do not want to dominated by men and they do not want to dominate men. Women do not wish to be degraded nor to degrade by domination. Also, they wish for equality so they will be respected rather than be frightened or loathed.

I agree with what Aaron said. Women desire power over their spouse just as men do. This is because, in the end, it is human instinct to be in control and needed.
Over the course of history, women and men have been assigned distinctive roles. For instance, women generally cleaners, caretakers, a food preparers. Even while carrying out these undermining actions, women often command that their spouse aid them in some way, giving them control in the situation.
Women, just like men, desire to be noticed and wanted, as well. This is another reason why women desire control over their spouse. When in control, a person makes critical decisions and is depended upon by his or her spouse. This dependency satisfies the desire to be needed.
