Both The Pardoner's Tale and The Wife of Bath's Tale were great stories to read, and Chaucer did an extraordinary job on the both of them. However, I enjoyed the Wife of Bath's story more. I enjoyed that it was a breath of fresh air of these times. Women at this time were not treated fairly, and were mostly considered lowly-much like a servant would be considered. However, the Wife of Bath gives a refreshing tale of a woman gaining some independence and power over a man. I really enjoy how this is the view of a modern woman long before the thought of being independent even began to cross women's minds. I also think that the Wife of Bath's witty, humorous, and laid back kind of storytelling style made it better than the Pardoner's Tale. For example, she had humorous slurs, such as her example of the friar, and she often went off on casual tangents such as the story of Midas and his wife. These elements made for a much more casual and relatable story. Although the Pardoner's Tale was great as well, I think that the Wife of Bath's Tale was better.
