The Long Journey to Immortality...

The epic BEOWULF covers 50 years in life of the hero Beowulf. During these years, Beowulf encounters 3 major battles. Which battle--Grendel, mother monster, or dragon--did you enjoy most and why? (The deadline to post a response to this post is midnight Friday, September 9, 2011)

I enjoyed the battle between Beowulf and the mother monster because it was written as more of a battle, and had more description than the other battles.

I enjoyed Beowulf's battle against Grendel the most because it shows how powerful Beowulf really is when he rips off Grendel's arm.

I felt as though the battle between Beowulf and Grendel's mother was the most descriptive and exciting of the three. It sets the scene and leaves the reader with a sense of suspense as to what will happen to Beowulf. The battle itself was amazing on its on. Grendel's mother fought ferociously as did Beowulf, and the victor won rather spectacularly.

I found the battle between Beowulf and Grindel's mother to be the best because it was the most intense of the three. Unlike the battle with Grindel, Beowulf did not easily defeat his mother; he actually had to put up a fight. Then the battle with the dragon was more sad than exciting. Therefore, I found the battle with Grindel's mother to be the most entertaining.

I enjoyed Beowulf's battle with dragon the most. Even though Beowulf ended up dying, he stays strong throughout the battle and still managed to slayed the dragon with some help.

I enjoyed Beowulf's battle with the dragon the most because it showed how strong and courageous he was. Even though the battle ended with Beowulf's demise, I appreciated the fact that Wiglaf stayed and helped him defeat the dragon.

Of all the battles, I liked the battle between Beowulf and Graendal's mother the most. It seemed the only fight that was not particularly one-sided. Also, we, as the readers, had no knowledge of what Graendal's mother was capable of, or how the battle would play out. From the beginning of the other battles it was clear that Beowulf would defeat Graendal and that the dragon would kill him. The battle with the mother was the only one depicted with any uncertainty as to the outcome and therefore was the most interesting.

I enjoyed the fight with the dragon the most mainly because of the fact that is where Beowulf has his epiphany.

Of the three battles, i enjoyed the one with the dragon the most. In the battle, Beowulf is in danger, and only one thane stays to help. This demonstrates the Anglo-saxon's strong belief in loyalty. Also, Beowulf's last wish is for his guerdon to go to his people and that he will be a hero for ages to come.

I enjoyed the battle between Beowulf and the dragon the most. Beowulf needing help to slay the beast shows that everyone needs help, no matter how invencible he or she may seem.
