...In the beginning...

We have covered a great deal about the Anglo-Saxons and the historical period in which they ruled and changed England and developed our language. They were an interesting society. What are two things you found to be interesting about the Anglo-Saxons? Explain why. (The deadline to post a response to this blog is midnight, Saturday, September 13, 2014.)

What I found interesting about the Anglo-Saxons was that they had artisans and practiced agriculture. I had always thought that Anglo-Saxons were vicious brutal people, not art loving farmers.

The Anglo-Saxons play a major part in our history today. There are so many interesting things about their culture. One of the most interesting things I found about them is that all of their stories deal with heroism, bravery, brutality, and they all end without a happy ending. In my opinion, this represents that they were strong and always expecting the worst. Another fact that I greatly appreciated was that Anglo-Saxons highly appreciated the women and gave them many opportunities. However, this privilege to women was sadly taken away by the French.

The first that interest me was the loyalty the Anglo-Saxons had between them. What is interesting about this is how the same loyalty kept the people together to fend of England for so many years. The next thing was how they treated there women. They treated them with the respect. They did this by giving them rights and letting them own property. This was interesting because they were one of many who treated there women this way.
